Creative Skillset is the industry body which supports skills and training for people and businesses in key sub-sectors of the creative industries.
Creative Skillset looks after the skills needs of the advertising, animation, computer games, fashion and textiles, facilities, film, radio, TV, photo imaging and publishing industries. Our job is to make sure the Creative Industries have the right people, with the right skills, in the right place, at the right time, to allow business growth and competitiveness; industries to maintain their competitive edge and share best practice; and sectors to attract and retain talented people to build on success.
Creative Skillset in Northern Ireland seeks to raise skills levels throughout the audio visual industries in Northern Ireland. It works with a number of partners to achieve shared goals for our sectors. Northern Ireland Screen, the local agency with responsibility for the development of the screen industries in Northern Ireland, provides Creative Skillset with an invaluable level of support. Other public sector partners include: Invest NI, the Department for Employment and Learning (DEL) and the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure (DCAL).
Creative Skillset’s work in Northern Ireland is guided by the Northern Ireland Industry Skills Panel with membership drawn from leading employers as well representatives from unions, trade associations, further and higher education and public agencies including Northern Ireland Screen. The board is Creative Skillset’s formal advisory committee in Northern Ireland, convened jointly with Northern Ireland Screen. The advisory board provides a critically strategic level of direct industry influence and guidance, ensuring engagement with industry at a local level. The members of this board are committed to driving forward the skills agenda and continue to support aspirations in delivering improved levels of productivity and competitiveness.
