#Loveto has teamed up with Culture Northern Ireland to launch Undiscovered, a competition designed to find the as-of-yet unheard talent of Northern Ireland’s musical scene.
From buskers to bands, bedroom singers to choirs, all those who love music and love to sing are invited to share their voice. Winners will be selected in three different categories: Best Original Song, Best Cover Song and Best Busker / Live Performance.
Those selected win the chance to have their song professionally recorded and mastered by Earth Music Belfast, aired on radio, featured on the BBC Big Screen at Belfast City Hall and a gift voucher to spend in Henderson Music.
Kevin Murphy, chief officer of Voluntary Arts Ireland and leader of the #Loveto campaign said: 'If you love to sing, we want to hear from you. Whether you're a bedroom singer, a sing-a-long to the CD in the car singer or the next big thing, if you have a passion for singing we want you to share it. This country has a huge number of talented singers – now is their time to shine.'
David Lewis, director of communications and digital content at Nerve Centre, added: 'We're excited to be able to help give the wealth of undiscovered musical talent in Northern Ireland a platform to showcase what it is they can do and to have their voices heard. #LovetoSING month [which runs until the end of November] is the perfect opportunity to do this.'
The Undiscovered app can be found on the Culture Northern Ireland and #LovetoHQ Facebook pages, where singers can upload and share their videos with a simple click of a button. The deadline for entrants is 4pm, January 16, 2015, with the winners announced one week later on January 23. Enter the competition at www.facebook.com/lovetoHQ and click the Undiscovered tab.
The competition isn’t the only way you can take part in the campaign, though. #LovetoSING is part of the #Loveto campaign with an aim to encourage people to share their voice online. Whether it’s pictures, videos, event news or even a thought, if it’s about singing and the love of singing, join in the fun by using #LovetoSING on social media.
The campaign is powered by Voluntary Arts Ireland and invites everyone to share the creative activities that they love to do. Every month they are introducing a different theme and inviting everyone to get involved.
#LovetoDRAW was in October 2014 and #LovetoSING is on all through November. This creative movement has already seen thousands of people getting involved in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland and has starting to make waves across the water in the UK and US as word spreads.
