On Saturday 8th April the Ulster Museum will host Createathon 2017 - a day filled with opportunities to get involved in all things creative during this years Get Creative Weekend. On that day Northern Ireland’s creative community is coming together to take over the Museum with craft, dance, music, cartoon, installations, reading, poetry…and more. It’s an invitation for everyone to take part and get creative.
Last year the in the inaugural Createathon over 2500 people came along and this year there is an impressive list of artists and organisations involved including the Northern Ireland Patchwork Guild, Top Floor Art, Butterfly Conservation NI, NI Big Sock, Celtic Connections, Boom Studios, Verbal Arts Centre, Lighthouse Yarns, Ulster Guild of Spinners, Weavers and Dyers, Belfast Stitch and Bitch, The Big Weave, Renal Arts Group, Lisa McGreevy and Marie Therese Davis, Rowallane Community Hub, Arts Ekta and Jam Nights.
BBC Radio Ulster will be there in force too with the Gerry Kelly show broadcasting live from the event. On top of all of that there are Get Creative events and activities being run across Northern Ireland in Derry, Bangor, Portstewart and Ballymoney. You can get involved by coming along to one of the events or you can host an event that encourages people to take part. It’s also easy to badge any relevant event you are already doing that weekend as part of the Get Creative Weekend. You can list your event here.
