Royal Television Society Reveals Northern Ireland Programme Awards

The shortlist for the RTS NI Programme Awards have been revealed for 2016.

The shortlist for this year’s RTS NI Programme Awards has been announced following a bumper crop of entries. The awards take place on Thursday 17 November at The MAC, Belfast

The competition saw a total of 67 submissions across eight categories, which is a significant increase on last year’s mark. Among those shortlisted for awards are: Sports Personality of the Year (BBC Sport); The Secret (Hat Trick Productions Ltd); The Many Faces of…Ronnie Corbett (Green Inc Film &Television Ltd); and DELETE DELETE DELETE (Roughcut TV).

One of Britain’s best-loved broadcasters Adrian Chiles has also been confirmed as host for the gala awards night which is expected to draw around 200 attendees from across the creative industries.

The Royal Television Society Northern Ireland (RTS NI) Programme Awards 2016 - in association with Performance Film and Media Insurance - is now in its second year and recognises the very best creative and television production talent in the local industry.

RTS NI Awards Committee Chair, and MD of Stellify Media, Kieran Doherty said: “We have been very impressed by the volume, high quality and great variety of the submissions received for this year’s awards.

“The standard of work being produced locally is as good as can be found anywhere in the world and this is reflected in the shortlist. We’re now looking forward to the awards night and to celebrating the world-class output of our creative talent.”

RTS NI Awards host Adrian Chiles said: “This shortlist is evidence of the tremendous wealth of talent working in Northern Ireland’s screen industries today.
