Northern Ireland has something to sing about this month as November has been named #LovetoMAKEMUSIC month – a national celebration of singing and music. So whether you love a good sing song, playing with friends in a band or singing in a local choir, now’s the time to celebrate your love of music.
As part of the celebrations a special #LovetoMAKEMUSIC day is being organised for Friday, 27 November. Anyone with a love of music is invited to get involved and to share something on the day – either a song, a live performance using the Periscope app on Twitter (this tool allows anyone to broadcast themselves for free live on Twitter) or even simply share what it is that they love about music. If you would like to put on a special event or performance on the day email email@example.com.
#LovetoMAKEMUSIC month will celebrate all that is great about music – and there’s plenty to celebrate! For thousands of years music has united us, helped us through the good times and the bad and has been a proven source of health benefits – from helping to relieve stress, to helping with conditions such an Alzheimers.
Kevin Murphy, Chief Officer of Voluntary Arts Ireland and organiser of the campaign said: 'Music is an integral part of all our creative lives and this month is all about celebrating how much we love music and what it does for us. Music unites us in so many ways and is a wonderful creative outlet for all of us – young and old alike. #LovetoMAKEMUSIC day is particularly exciting as it’s new to the campaign this year so we’re really looking forward to hearing and seeing what people do. It’s open to anyone with a love of music so please do get in touch with us and help us celebrate our musical heritage and talents.'
#LovetoMAKEMUSIC is part of #Loveto – a creative campaign that each month chooses a different artistic theme to celebrate and invites the public to share their passion with the world. In recent months they have run #LovetoPHOTO, #LovetoDANCE and for Halloween #LovetoCARVEPUMPKINS, all to great success. #Loveto is powered by Voluntary Arts – a UK and Ireland-wide arts charity which promotes participation in creative cultural activity.
