Culture Night is an annual celebration of culture at cities and towns across Europe and an important part of the city and district’s cultural calendar when local cultural venues open their doors for an extended programme of free cultural events. Culture Night aims to encourage the public to embrace culture and visit some of their local museums, galleries, historic buildings and cultural centres for free.
This year’s Culture Night is scheduled to take place on 22nd September and those interested in being part of it are urged to attend one of the information sessions being organised by the Council on Wednesday 07 June at Strabane Library from 6 pm to 7.30pm and at the Old Firestation, Hawkin Street in Derry on Thursday 08 June from 6pm to 7.30pm.
Encouraging people to come along and be involved, Jean Smyth from Derry City and Strabane District Council says
'Culture Night is a great opportunity for locals to explore and enjoy what is on offer locally. It is an excellent example of partnership working between the Council and local cultural businesses and projects and is a great for them to showcase their venue and products and reach new audiences and raise their profile. We hope to see as many organisations and cultural groups coming along to the information sessions so we can work together to deliver another quality programme of free events.'
