Belfast based children’s charity Replay Theatre Company are set to welcome a whole host of international delegates across several sectors to the city for their inaugural Inclusion Conference.
The Adventure Collective – Inclusion Conference, taking place Monday 26 to Tuesday 27 June in Skainos Square, Belfast will focus on the journey and development of children and young people with disabilities from birth to 19 years, with emphasis on how inclusive creativity can greatly contribute towards social development, happiness, personal empowerment and the improvement of communication skills.
The conference will bring multiple sectors together and encourage the sharing of ideas and experiences, highlighting the challenges that these young people can face and how the arts is perfectly poised to bring adventure, enjoyment and happiness to their everyday lives.
Delegates and guests of the conference will have the opportunity to extend their ticket and engage in three days of creative workshops taking place from June 28 to 30.
Speaking about the conference, Replay Theatre Company’s Inclusion Lead Artist Andrew Stanford said: 'Having recently celebrated a three year extension of our UP Programme for children and young people with disabilities we decided that it was time to try to get everyone talking about creating work for and by these audiences. The Adventure Collective is Replay’s way of sharing our experiences and inviting others from around the world to share theirs.
'We are particularly excited to have attracted such renowned contributors to the Inclusion Conference and we look forward to helping others explore how the creative process can contribute to the development of children and young people.'
Speakers at the conference include a keynote address from critically acclaimed author and comedian Francesca Martinez, Emmy-nominated costume designer Susan Scott, renowned US choreographer Liz Lerman and Jodi-Alissa Bickerton, Creative Learning Director of the UK’s flagship disabled-led theatre company, Graeae Theatre Company, plus more.
