Step Inside offers those with an interest in media and the creative arts an opportunity to see how various mediums combine to make an award winning radio station. Based at Cool FM and Downtown Radio you will have an opportunity to see what happens behind the scenes and what it takes to make radio in the 21st Century. All the courses have been funded by the Department for Communities and are FREE. Simply choose the course you’d like to be part of, choose the date that suits you and send us some details about you and that’s it. Places are limited and will be offered on a first come basis. Please Note: none of the delivery deals with Live djing.
Six different courses will take place throughout the months of February and March, detailing specific jobs and opportunities which take place in and around a radio station.
Introduction To Presenting: Over 2 sessions, this course aims to teach you basics skills in presenting. Full of advice, tips and tricks and hopeful will press the right buttons to help carve out your presenting career. More information can be found here.
Sound Production - Imagining PK: This course will take you through exactly what goes into making a radio station sound fresh and engaging for its specific audience. More information can be found here.
Studio Skills: This course is ideal for somebody who would like to be a presenter, show producer or audio producer, and wants to increase their skills using the studio hardware and software. More information can be found here.
Getting The Story Right - An Introduction To Broadcast Journalism For Today’s World: The course focuses on presentation, voice quality, writing, law, interviewing, and of course using the kit and software. More information can be found here.
Commercial Creative Process: This weekend course will give you a behind the scenes look into script writing & creative production. We’ll look at the good, the bad and the ugly in radio advertising. More information can be found here.
Introduction To Commercial Radio: The weekend course for the ‘Introduction to Commercial Radio’ will give you a basic insight into the everyday workings of how different departments run within a commercial radio station. More information can be found here.
