QUARTERED: Belfast, A Love Story

Venue: The Dark Horse

Time: All Day

Price: £8 / £5

Belfast’s streets and public places are many things to many people: spaces to come together, spaces that divide or unite us, places to party, places to pull, places that liberate, places that contain.

Written by Dominic Montague, directed by Paula McFetridge and voiced by Neil Keery, Quartered: Belfast, A Love Story is a promenade experience combining audio and theatre that explores the idea of queer space and queer experiences of spaces in our city.

What is the LGBTQ+ experience of Belfast? When the queer maps and boundaries are drawn physically and psychologically, who holds the pen?

Beginning at the Dark Horse, Hill Street, and ending at the Sunflower, Union Street, Quartered: Belfast, A Love Story is a unique hour long audio journey that explores Belfast’s unofficial queer quarter and surrounding streets. It opens up a new conversation about how gender and sexuality inform how we move through our city and how our city moves through us. It asks the question, how much power do we give ourselves to shape the city we live in?

Performance dates: Monday 12th - Friday 16th March 2018

Times: 4:30pm, 5pm, 5:30pm, 6pm, 6:30pm and 7pm

Audience capacity is limited to six people per session.

You are encouraged to bring your own headphones but additional will be available on site.

It’s a promenade performance so dress for the weather!

Contains some strong language.

'This is both an individual, and sadly, a universal story which penetrates deep into the consciousness. It remains lodged there as the days slip away, whispering, niggling, nudging a closer awareness of the streets, murals and buildings that one would unthinkingly have passed by' - The Even Hand

'I found Quartered to be a moving piece of promenade theatre, forcing me to look up from my own horizons to see Belfast as the canvass, the set, and listen to someone else’s story… a triumph' – Alan in Belfast

'By addressing a hard-hitting issue with hard hitting humour, listeners are so engaged and captivated' – Theatre NI Young Critics
